DOHA: Brazilian Paulo César Carpegiani - who managed a string of top
football clubs around the world - is set to be unveiled as Al Arabi's
new coach on Tuesday, the Qatar Stars League (QSL) side said on
Monday.
The short-term deal will see Carpegiani holding the Al Arabi reigns
until the end of the current season.
Carpegiani, 65, is a former Brazilian footballer.
Last month Al Arabi fired German coach Ole Stilleke following
indifferent results in the on-going QSL season.
Carpegiani has worked in the Middle East, managing sides in Kuwait,
Paraguay, Brazil and Ecuador.
His best performance as a coach was with the Paraguayan national team from
1996 to 1998.
On April 10, 2009 Carpegiani was hired as Vitória's head coach.
On June 1, 2010 Atlético Paranaense hired the former Vitória coach to
replace Leandro Niehues.
