DOHA: Al Sadd thrashed Al Sailiya 5-2 in the 11th round of the Qatar Stars League at the Al Rayyan Stadium on Thursday. The victory propelled them to 24 points and on to the top of the standings on goal difference above El Jaish, who have a game in hand. Marcelo Tavares scored an own goal to give Sadd the lead in the 17th minute. Leandro Da Silva (27th and 83rd), Lee Jung-Soo (39th) and Nadir Belhadj (60th) scored for the winners while Ilunga Diba (48th) and Faouzi Ayesh (71st) found the target for the losers. Spanish coach Manuel Jimenez’s search for his first win as Al Rayyan coach continued as Al Alrabi beat them 1-0. Bahraini international Mohammed Adnan scored the all-important goal in the 54th. At Grand Hamad Stadium, Bahrani defender Sayef Adnan scored midway the second half to help Al Arabi beat arch rivals Al Rayyan in the match between Qatar's most popular teams. Elsewhere, Al Khor settled for a goalless draw with Muaither Sports Club.
