RIYADH: Football officials in the region have agreed to move the 2014
Gulf Cup from Jeddah to Riyadh, it emerged on Wednesday.
The decision was announced following a meeting of football officials
from all participating countries. The meeting lasted one hour.
The 2014 Gulf Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia from November 13 to 26.
The decision to switch the venue city was made after football
officials made detailed inspection of all match venues.
The organizers were also urged to make rapid upgrade of media
facilities and training sites for the event that attracts plenty of
attention from football fans in the Middle East.
It was also suggested that the next edition of the Gulf Cup be staged
at the end of 2015 or at the start of 2016.
Saudi Arabia football officials said the draw of the November event
will be made in August.
