Doha: Striker Sebastian Soria on Wednesday lauded the performance of his players, saying team effort helped his side win the Sheikh Jassim Cup.
Al Rayyan, playing under new coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena, beat Al Duhail 6-4 in a penalty shootout to lift the first trophy of the new football season in Qatar.
"It was a team effort. It feels great to start the season with a win like this. I hope all of the players can give such committed performances in the coming weeks also," Soria said after the match at Al Sadd Stadium.
"I have to give credit to my team mates and the way the new coach worked so hard with us. We won because of the hard work we put in the off-season," he added.
Both sides ended the regulation time at a flood-lit Al Sadd Stadium at 1-1.
Sheikh Jassim Cup is a one-off football clash that launches the new season every year.
The new QNB Stars League season will kick off on August 4.
