Lebanon and Kuwait have formed a budding rivalry in recent times, playing each other on five occasions since October 2011, with three games ending in a draw and one win foreach.
Both nations were also battling for the second spot in Group B ofAsia Cup2015 qualification, while Lebanon eliminated Kuwait from the final round of the World Cup qualifiers almost a year ago.
Lebanon were playing their second match of the championship after their opening tie ended in a goalless draw against Jordan. Sunday’s match was Kuwait’s first of the tournament.
