DOHA: Champions Al Sadd wasted the chance to consolidate their lead at the top of the table when two-time champions Lekhwiya shocked them 3-2 in the 12th round of the Qatar Stars League at the Al Sadd Stadium on Wednesday.
They are tied with El Jaish on 24 points and lead the table by virtue of goal difference. The victory helped Lekhwiya increase their tally to 21 and move up to third.
Nam Tae-Hee (9th and 26th), Sebastian Soria (44th) scored for the winners while Khalfan Ibrahim cut the deficit with a brace (57th and 60th).
Earlier, Al Ahli, who had shocked Jaish in the previous round, continued their good run as they beat Al Wakrah 1-0. Congolese striker Dioko Kaluyituka scored the all-important goal in the 84th.
