Doha: Despite failing to preserve a first half 1-0 lead; point leaders Al
Shahaniya maintained their unbeaten run following a 1-1 draw against
Mesaimeer in the ninth round match in the Second Division League.
Al Shahaniya now have 19 points from nine matches with. Mesaimeer are
in fourth place with 9 points.
Claudio Lucho opened the scoring for Al Shahaniya from the penalty spot
in the 27th minute. In the second half, Mesaimeer equalized through
veteran midfielder Ahmed Kano in the 79th minute.
Mesaimeer’s equalizer was thouroughly deserved, as the struggling side
was reduced to 10 minutes midway the first half when defender Abdulrahman
Mohammed was sent off in the back of reckless challenge.
Elsewhere, Haris Mohammed’s first minute goal set the scene for Al Shamal
to beat Muaither 2-1.
The result hoisted Al Shamal to third place with a tally of 12 points, Muaither
are still bottom of the table with just 5 points.
