DOHA: Muaither were crowned champions of the maiden
edition of the Second division Cup after a dramatic
3-2 victory over Al Shahaniya on Wednesday.
The final match was played at Soud bin Abdulrahman Stadium.
Both teams were almost destined for a penalty shootout
to determine the winner, however, Muaither’s goalie Mohammed
Al Ghamdi extended enough to save Claudio Luciano’s effort on
88 minutes to keep the score at 3-2.
Al Shahaniya took the lead in the 2nd minute through Claudio
Luciano and once again on 64 minutes through Hamad Al Juhani.
Ciamec Koreshi ( 24), Ayoub Al Widrasi (67) and Khalifa Al
Naar (73) were on target for Muaither.
