DOHA: Former PSG star Nene netted on three occasions to help Al Gharafa into an exhilarating 6-2 victory over Umm Salal in the ninth round match of the Qatar Stars League on Saturday.
Nene broke the deadlock just one minute into the match; this early lead was cemented by another goal from Argentinean Lesandro Lopez.
Qatari international Lawrence Quaye scored the third for Al Gharafa goal on 17 minutes, only to send the hosts onto the locker room sporting a comfortable lead.
Venezuelan international Miku settled matters with a fourth on 61 minutes, before Nene sealed the game with a double on 79 and 88 minutes. While Ahmed Al Sayed and Othman Al Assas scored for Umm Salal, who the defeat left them rooted to the bottom of the Qatar Stars League table.
Meanwhile, Al Wakrah and Al Khor played an enterprising 2-2 draw.
Julio Cesar’s twin strike (12th and 35th) gave Khor a two-goal cushion, but Moroccan midfielder Anwar Diba (45th and 55th) ensured a point for Wakrah.
Elsewhere, Al Kharaitiyat came from behind to defeat Muaither Sports Club 2-1.
Uzbek midfielder Fozil Musayev (14th) put Muaither ahead while Yahia Kebe (31st) and Jaycee John (67th) helped Al Kharaitiyat win.
