Olympic League: Al Shamal Lead on Goal Difference

Doha: The Olympic League continues to deliver high-level competition, with the third round producing a number of eye-catching results. Al Rayyan edged Al Duhail in a five-goal thriller, 3-2, to headline the week. Al Shamal also kept up their momentum by beating Al Sailiya 2-0, while Al Ahli overcame Qatar SC 2-0 and Al Wakrah matched the draws against Al Shahania. Stalemates rounded out the week, as Al Sadd and Al Gharafa shared the spoils in a scoreless encounter, mirrored by Al Arabi and Umm Salal.

With those results, Al Shamal, Al Rayyan, and Al Wakrah all sit level on seven points, with Al Shamal leading on goal difference. Al Gharafa are close behind in fourth on five points, followed by Al Sadd and Umm Salal who also have five each but trail on goal difference. The middle of the table includes Al Duhail (4), Al Sailiya (3), and Al Ahli (3), while Al Arabi and Qatar SC share a point apiece. Al Shahania, still winless, are yet to register a point.

The fourth round takes place on September 18–19 with six matches scheduled across two days. Thursday features Al Shamal vs. Al Gharafa, Al Duhail vs. Al Arabi, and Al Wakrah vs. Al Sadd, hosted at the venues of Al Duhail, Al Shamal, and Al Sailiya. Friday’s games see Umm Salal against Al Sailiya, Al Shahania up against Qatar SC, and Al Ahli clashing with Al Rayyan.
