Kuwait city, Kuwait: Qatar's head coach, Luis Garcia, has expressed confidence in his team's readiness for the decisive Group A match against hosts Kuwait in the 26th Gulf Cup. Despite a 1-1 draw with the UAE and a 2-1 loss to Oman, Garcia believes his squad is prepared to secure a victory and advance to the semifinals.
"A very difficult match awaits us because Kuwait plays well and is supported by the fans in this tournament," Garcia stated during a press conference on Thursday. "Having said that, we will strive to present a good level as we have great confidence in ourselves and our ability to achieve victory and qualify for the semifinals."
He acknowledged the challenges posed by injuries and the tight schedule but emphasized the depth of his squad. "We have 26 players in the squad, and those 23 players are fully ready; everyone will do their best in order to achieve victory," he said.
Garcia also highlighted the importance of integrating young talent into the team. "We are trying to form a new generation, and we have enough quality to compete for championships, and they need a chance to do so," he remarked.
Regarding star player Akram Afif's participation, Garcia noted, "It is difficult to find a player like Akram Afif. He always makes a difference and is a great player and very important to the team."
As Qatar prepares for this crucial encounter, the team's focus remains on delivering a strong performance to secure a place in the semifinals.
