KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Qatar on Tuesday Qatar edged past Malaysia 1-0 and
sealed a berth at 2015 Asian Cup with a qualifying match to spare.
A second-half strike Abdulkareem Al Ali in the 65th minute helped
Fahad Thani's Qatar to produce the much-vaunted win at Shah Alam
Stadium.
Just four days ago, Qatar had beaten Yemen 4-1.
Tuesday's win was Qatar second successive over Malaysia who were
coached by K Rajagopal.
Qatar beat Malaysia in the first leg in February this year.
Bahrain are at the top of Group D with 10 points from four matches
while Qatar have a similar tally from five matches.
Third-placed Malaysia have 5 points whereas Yemen, the fourth side in
the group, are at the bottom without a point from four matches.
Qatar's last qualifying match will be played next year in March.
A total of 16 teams will compete in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup to be held
in Australia.
