Nilai: Mustafa Bachay fired Iraq to the finals of the AFC Futsal Championship 2014 after scoring an all important equaliser in the 40th minute in their 1-1 draw against Qatar in the West Zone qualifier match held on Thursday at the Nilai Indoor Stadium.
Having managed four points from their opening three matches, Iraq needed to avoid defeat but they were heading for a 1-0 reverse after Ali Al Sabah put the Qataris ahead in the 26th minute.
As it looked like that the Qataris are booking a berth by better head-to-head result over Iraq, Bachay stepped in to fire an important equaliser late in the match.
Iraq joined Kuwait and Lebanon from the West Zone in the finals to be played in Ho Chi Minh City next year.
The confirmed participants for the finals are: Japan, Thailand, Iran, Uzbekistan Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Chinese Taipei, Korea Republic, Vietnam, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Lebanon, Kuwait and Iraq.
