ZURICH: Qatar, hosts of the 2022 World Cup, have moved two spots in FIFA world rankings, according to world governing body.
Ranked 101 at the start of last month, Qatar are now placed at 99, FIFA rankings showed on Saturday.
The Fahad Thani-coached side has accumulated 331 points.
Qatar, also known as ‘Al Anabi’, are placed ahead of regional rivals Bahrain (106) and Kuwait (109).
Iran has slid to the 38thbest team in the world but still retain their top rank in Asia. The Japanese, Australians and Uzbekis round out the top four teams in Asia, respectively.
Spain leads an unchanged top four with Germany, Argentina and Portugal.
Most of the rankings were determined by devaluation of older matches and some friendly international games. A new ranking will be released in March.
