DOHA: Qatar recorded 32027 fans walking in through the turnstiles for
three national team matches in the last few months, it emerged on
Sunday.
This was disclosed by Qatar Football Association (QFA).
According to stats made available by QFA, on an average 10675 fans
visited each of the three 2015 Asian Cup qualifying matches.
A total of 7320 fans watched Qatar take on Malaysia on February 6,
2014 while 11920 people saw hosts Qatar hammer Yemen 6-0 at Al Gharafa
Stadium on October 10, 2013.
Last week, 12787 fans saw Qatar play a goalless draw against Bahrain
at Al Gharafa Stadium.
Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari , Director of Marketing and Communication,
QFA, said: 'We are thrilled to see in the increase in fan attendance
at Qatar's matches. This demonstrates the love people have for
football matches. Football remains the number one sport in the country
and fans have shown exactly that."
He added: "Qatar ran an amazing campaign to reach the 2015 Asian Cup
finals. The fans were regaled to some top flight football."
