Qatari Referees Set for Key AFC and Gulf Matches This Week

DOHA: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Referees Committee has appointed six Qatari officials to oversee the AFC Champions League clash between Japan’s Yokohama F. Marinos and South Korea’s Pohang Steelers. The match, part of the East region's fifth round of the AFC Champions League (Elite), will take place on Wednesday, November 27, at Nissan Stadium, Japan. Abdulrahman Al Jassim will serve as the match referee, supported by Taleb Salem Al Marri (first assistant), Saud Al Maqaleh (second assistant), and Abdulhadi Al Ruwaili (fourth referee). VAR duties will be handled by Khamis Al Marri and Mishari Ali Al Shamri. Meanwhile, Qatari international referee Abdullah Al-Athba has been assigned to officiate the AFC Champions League match between Hong Kong’s Eastern SC and Australia’s Sydney FC. He will be assisted by Khaled Ayed Khalaf and Mohammed Ahmed Al-Shammari, with the match scheduled for Thursday, November 28, at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground, Hong Kong. Qatari Referees Assigned to Gulf Champions League Match The Referees Committee of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation has also selected a Qatari officiating team for the Gulf Champions League fixture between Iraq’s Dohuk FC and UAE’s Al-Nasr. The match, part of Group One’s third round, is set to take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Duhok Stadium, Iraq. Salman Falahi will lead as the main referee, supported by assistant referees Ramzan Al-Naimi and Majed Al-Shammari. VAR duties will be managed by Mohammed Ahmed and Zahi Sanid Al-Shammari.
