Doha: Under the supervision of the Asian Football Confederation, the Qatar Football Association's (QFA) Development Department has successfully concluded the second phase of its elite 'A' level coaching diploma at Al Sailiya Sports Club. The program, which featured active engagement and substantive discussions on contemporary coaching methodologies, was brought to a close last Thursday.

This phase involved an intensive focus on defensive organization, with theoretical and practical lectures dedicated to the principles of modern defending. Participants engaged in detailed lessons and practical applications on zonal defense, alongside learning how to create a technical link between defensive duties and attacking priorities to ensure overall pitch balance.

The course agenda extended beyond pure tactics to dedicate significant space to themes of leadership and the coaching personality. Experts delved into the formation of a coach's "technical identity," the fundamentals of building a cohesive team, and the mechanisms for effectively managing matches. Critical focus was also placed on the vital subject of handling professional players and managing star mentalities to serve the collective group.

Instruction for this stage was led by Belgian specialist Guy Peeters as a visiting lecturer, alongside Mr. Wissam Shamal, an accredited Asian lecturer. The proceedings benefited from the technical supervision and field coordination of Mr. Abdulqader Al Mughaiseeb, Education Consultant at the Development Department, who ensured the outputs met the required continental standards.

This initiative falls within the broader development agenda spearheaded by Mr. Fahad Thani Al Zarraa, Executive Director of the Development Department, which is geared towards producing a new generation of coaches. These coaches are intended to possess the precise tactical knowledge and essential leadership skills required to thrive in professional football.
