DOHA: Top Qatar Football Association (QFA) officials joined Al Noor Institute for the Blind to celebrate the beginning of the new school year. A fun-packed program was organized for the students to enjoy.
The distribution of the hundred gifts put a big smile on the students’ faces. Other activities included the presence of famous cartoon mascots.
Representatives from QFA attended the event and bonded with the staff and students by giving out gifts to different students and sharing knowledge about the significance of football in Qatar and the region.
QFA took a tour to see the amazing facility and get an insightful perspective of the different activities the students take part in throughout the year.
The tour included a visit to many workshops such as the sheltered workshop, arts and crafts workshop, kitchen, textiles workshop, and design and technology workshop, in which the students spend lots of time in to produce different products that can be sold at different exhibitions in Qatar.
A visit to the sports hall was part of the tour for QFA to witness the type of sports activities the students participate in.
Khalid Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to celebrate the new school year with the students and staff of the Al Noor Institute for the Blind. It is our responsibility to give back to the community.”
He added: “To organize and see that the students are having a wonderful time is a gratifying experience for us. We hope that our work with the Al Noor Institute for the Blind will lead to more joint events and projects in the near future as it is part of our social responsibility program for this season. We want to involve the visually impaired students in our future events to help them develop a passion for football in Qatar.”
He also added: “We are targeting the diverse student demographics across the country this year and will focus heavily on promoting local football and how they can be a part of the whole experience.”
Dr. Hayat Khalil Nathar, Director of Al Noor Institute for the Blind, said: “We thank QFA for their support in organizing and funding this event for Al Noor Institute for the Blind. The event drew a big smile the students’ faces and for that we are happy.'
He added: 'The students had a really good time and enjoyed the day’s program. They enjoyed receiving the gifts that QFA has distributed an we had a wonderful time with the cartoon mascots. We look forward to working with QFA on many future events.”
Established in 1998, this institute works to extend educational services to the blind to help them overcome their disability and prepare them to undertake more socially productive role.
