Doha: Qatar University (QU) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Players Association (QPA) to establish collaboration in the field of sports activities.
The MoU was signed by QU Student Services and Activities Director Mr Abdulla Al-Yafei and QPA Vice President Mr Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari in the presence of Manager of Sports and Recreation Activities at QU Student Activities Department Ms Asmaa Al-Naemi and officials from QU and QPA.
In the terms of the MoU, QU will provide QPA football team with access to its stadium and facilities for training. QPA will sponsor and provide the technical and administrative support as well as the necessary equipment and sport clothing to QU football team.
In his remarks, Mr Abdulla Al-Yafei said: “At QU, we strongly advocate the benefits of sport and recreation, not only for the physical, but the positive impact on the individual’s social and cultural skills. Our collaboration with QPA will contribute to enhancing QU students’ performance in the field of sports and to establishing a strong football team at the University. It also highlights the Student Activities Department’s ongoing efforts to offer students a wide range of sports activities.”
Mr Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari said: “Our collaboration with QU aligns with our commitment to providing support to educational institutions through the provision of technical expertise to football teams. This MoU will contribute providing football players with the necessary training, which will contribute to strengthening their skills and capabilities. QPA will sponsor QU football team during its participation in the University League, as well as QU amateur football team during its participation in the Qatar Amateur League that are organised by the Qatar Football Association.”
