DOHA: The Second Division action will resume on Sunday with two matches in Round 18.
In the first match, Al Markhiya and Al Shamal will meet at the Grand Hamad Stadium (Al Arabi Sports Club), and in the second clash Mesaimeer take on Al Khuraitiyat at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium (Qatar Sports Club).
Before entering this round, Al Kharaitiyat leads the group of teams allowed to compete for the title after Al Bidda, Lusail and Al Waab teams were excluded from participating in the third and final phase that was delayed owing to the COVID-19 situation around the world.
The teams competing besides Al Khuraitiyat are: Mesaimeer, Al Markhiya, Muaither and Al Shamal.
Al Kharaitiyat has 33 points and is the only team that has not tasted defeat so far. The side looks confident of qualifying for the QNB Stars League next season.
Mesaimeer is in second place with 26 points, Al Markhiya in third place with 23, Muaither in fourth place with 21 and Al Shamal is in fifth place with 20 points.
Hence, it is expected that the clash between Al Kharaitiyat and Masaimeer will be exciting as the former aims to seal a berth next season's QNB Stars League.
On the other hand, Mesaimeer will be eager to pick up points in the final phase of the season.
In the other match of the day, Al Markhiya and Al Shamal will also be battling for points.
Al Shamal will be desperate for a win after a series of losses.
