Doha: The fifth week of the Second Division League concluded on Tuesday evening with a series of thrilling and competitive encounters. The round saw Al Markhiya and Al Waab share a 3–3 draw, while Lusail defeated Mesaimeer 2–1, Al Kharaitiyat overcame Al Khor by the same score, and Muaither triumphed over Al Bidaa 3–1.
The clash between Al Markhiya and Al Waab stood out as one of the week’s most exciting matches. It was a fiercely contested battle that remained undecided until the final moments. Al Waab succeeded in slowing Al Markhiya’s momentum slightly by narrowing the points gap with Lusail, yet Al Markhiya continues to hold the top spot. For Al Waab, the draw represented a missed opportunity to claim their long-awaited first victory.
Meanwhile, Lusail secured a hard-earned win over Mesaimeer, maintaining their pursuit of Al Markhiya and holding firmly to second place in the standings. Mesaimeer, however, continued to struggle, suffering another defeat. Both Al Kharaitiyat and Muaither also emerged victorious, keeping their hopes of contention alive and staying within the top four, despite the growing points difference from the league leaders.
At the end of Week Five, Al Markhiya lead the standings with 13 points, followed by Lusail with 12. Al Kharaitiyat and Muaither share 7 points each in third and fourth place, while Al Bidaa hold fifth place with the same tally. Mesaimeer rank sixth with 4 points, Al Khor follow with 3, and Al Waab remain at the bottom of the table with 2 points.
The league will now pause temporarily before resuming on December 21 with the fixtures of Week Six.
