DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced that it will donate the Sheikh Jassim Cup revenue to victims of Gaza. The match will be played between Emir Cup Champions (Al Sadd) and QSL Champions (Lekhwiya), and will take place on 13th August, 2014 at 7:00pm in Lekhwiya Stadium.
Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Acting COO of QFA commented: “As part of our social responsibility, we will be cooperating with our partner, ROTA, where it will be in charge of all the necessary procedures that ensure the revenue of the match is sent to the victims of the Gaza Strip.
“Our support to Gaza’s victims that have faced violence at the hands of the Israeli occupation for over a period of one month is of utmost importance for QFA and this is the least we can do to support these unaided civilians. It's a great opportunity for the fans to attend the match to contribute to this charitable and humanitarian cause and support the innocent Palestinian people. We are all in solidarity with the Palestinian people and are eager to make a difference in their lives through this considerable donation.”
QFA and ROTA signed an MoU earlier this year in which ROTA and QFA work together on joint initiatives and activities that aim to support social, educational, and sport fields to develop the unprivileged communities in Qatar and in Asia.
