DOHA: The “1st Edition of Balanty Challenge” is a joint initiative
between the Qatar Football Association, Qatar Stars League and The
Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy. The objective of our
initiative is increase the culture of football among all people.
It’s a basically a penalty challenge, one shot gets you through to the
next round. It’s meant to be fun and inclusive of everyone, as long as
you can kick you can participate. 3000 people in around Doha will
compete for the chance to be the penalty champion, (minimum age 12).
The winning player will get 30,000 QAR, while the best goalkeeper will
win 10,000 QAR.
In order to ensure that there is no queuing, you’re given a specific
time slot and grouping right up to the final, every time you qualify,
there are 6 goals setup at aspire at Aspire on pitch 10-12 from Sunday
27th of April 5pm onwards ; there are 3 professional or ex
professional goalkeepers / goal on rotational basis.
All kicks times will be during afternoon and early evening to make it
more convenient for people. As there will be daily coverage of the
event on all forms of media, including national press and TV, we
anticipate that as the competition gets further and further with the
numbers dwindling, people will be interested and curious as to see who
is slowly making his/her way to final prize.
It would great to have everyone compete; as the majority of the senior
executives of all the organizations will be taking the first shot at
the actual event will starting on the 27th April.
