Doha: The Qatar U-17 national team sealed a third consecutive victory, defeating the United Arab Emirates 2-0 at the Stadium. This win confirms their position at the top of Group A in the GCC U-17 Championship.
The "Maroos" put on a commanding performance, establishing their dominance early on. Mohannad Jameel broke the deadlock with a goal in the 3rd minute, giving Qatar a crucial momentum boost. The team maintained consistent pressure, and Zayed Faisal extended their lead with a second goal in the 28th minute, capping off a perfect first half.
With this result, Qatar U-17 finishes the group stage with a perfect record of nine points, while the UAE team qualifies for the semi-finals as the group's runner-up with six points.
In the other Group A match, Oman came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Yemen. This result secured Oman third place in the group, while Yemen crashed out of the tournament without any points.
Looking ahead, Qatar U-17 are set to face Saudi Arabia, the second-place finisher in Group B, in the semi-finals on September 30th. Meanwhile, the UAE will take on Group B winners, Iraq. The winners of these matches will advance to the final on October 3rd.
