DOHA: QFA vice-president Saoud Al Mohannadi hailed the national team for winning their first major title since 2006 against Jordan, after they pulled off a thrilling 2-0 victory in the final match of the West Asia Football Federation championship final on Tuesday.
"It was especially satisfying because we fielded a young team for this tournament, they lived up to our expectations, it's a good sign of things to come, it shows we are standing on solid ground prior to future events". Al Mohannadi said following the final match.
"Many of the players in this team deserve to be regulars in the Qatar line-up". He then added.
About the final held at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, he was quoted "It was a gripping match, worthy to wrap up a very successful tournament, both sides managed to deliver the goods and give us a good football match that truly correspond to the value of this tournament".
