DOHA: HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, a Vice-President at world
governing body FIFA, has said West Asian football is moving in the
right direction by attracting attention of the Asian body AFC.
Prince Ali said hewas thankful to Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for supporting the
initiatives of West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) which he foundedin 2000.
Prince Ali also said AFC's support would prove vital in WAFF making
further inroads on developing the game in the region.
The FIFA Vice-President said WAFF was tinkering with the idea of
introducing a new event involving top sides in all Asian regions.
He said a competition involving champion sides from various parts of
Asia would throw exciting talent. He hoped AFC would back the proposal
once it was finalized by the WAFF family.
Prince Ali said Qatar was moving in the right direction with regards
to its preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
He said Qatar would prove to be a 'worthy host when World Cup time
comes around'.
