Founded in 1980, Al Shamal Sports Club is among the teams that have steadily progressed to the QNB Stars League (Qatar’s First Division). The club made its return to the top tier this season after deservedly winning the Second Division title for the 2020–2021 season. 

It is worth noting that Al Shamal last competed in the First Division during the 2014–2015 season. Their return marks a new challenge, as the club is determined to perform at its best and avoid relegation once again.
