Al Wakrah Sports Club was established in 1959 and is considered one of the oldest and most distinguished clubs in Qatar. It is based in the southern city of Al Wakrah and has achieved several sporting successes over the years. 

From its early beginnings, Al Wakrah Club formed various sports teams and began participating in football, basketball, and handball competitions. During its formative years, the club moved across several locations. Nevertheless, thanks to the determination of its youth, the dedication of its members, and the ongoing support of the club’s management, its sporting base continued to grow. 

The club’s emblem features light blue and white, which inspired its fans to nickname the team "The Blue Wave." 

Al Wakrah SC boasts several major sports facilities, most notably the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium, where the first football team plays its home matches.
