Muaither Sports Club was founded in 1996 under the name Al Shabab and was renamed Muaither in 2004. The club was officially licensed in 1998. The 2013–2014 season marked Muaither’s first appearance in the Qatar Stars League, after spending previous seasons competing in the Second Division.

The team aimed for promotion to the Qatar Stars League after finishing second in the Second Division Clubs League in the 2011–2012 season. They played a playoff match against Umm Salal but narrowly lost 0–1.

In the 2012–2013 season, a similar situation occurred when Muaither faced Al Arabi in the playoff, losing 1–2. Despite these setbacks, Muaither benefited from the Qatar Football Association’s decision to expand the league to 14 teams, which granted them promotion alongside Al Ahli, who qualified officially.

Muaither’s persistent efforts to reach the Qatar Stars League finally succeeded in the 2022–2023 season, making them one of the competing teams in the 2023–2024 Qatar Stars League season.
