Umm Salal Sports Club was established in 1979 under the name Al-Tadamun Sports Club and initially competed in the second division. 

In 2004, the club’s name was officially changed to Umm Salal Sports Club, based in the Umm Salal area of Doha. 

The club’s first football team, nicknamed the Barzan Falcons, earned promotion to the first division for the first time in the 2006–2007 season. 

Since joining the top tier, Umm Salal has consistently delivered strong performances and has achieved notable successes both domestically and on the Asian level.
